Varsha Priyadarshi Asked To Hand Over Keys Of In-Laws’ House In Odisha’s Cuttack City

Cuttack: The SDJM court in Cuttack has ordered Ollywood actor Varsha Priyadarshini to hand over the keys of her in-law’s house to estranged husband and Kendrapada MP Anubhav Mohanty or his advocate by November 2.

If Anubhav or his advocate does not receive the key, she will have to deposit it in court.

According to sources, Anubhav had moved the court as Varsha locked the house at Nandi Sahi before leaving for her parental house on October 2 amid the ongoing Durga Puja festive. It was also reported that she was yet to shift her belongings from her in-laws’ place.

The actress, however, argued that she had locked the house for safety reasons.

On June 2, the SDJM court directed Varsha to vacate her in-law’s place while hearing a petition filed by the lawmaker, who had pleaded on behalf of his elderly parents, who were keeping unwell and wanted to return to their home. While directing Anubhav to pay Rs 30,000 compensation for her accommodation, the court asked Varsha to vacate the house within 2 months of receiving the first two financial assistance. The Kendrapada MP was asked to pay the amount on/before the 10th of every month for her accommodation.

Varsha later moved the district judge court, which issued an interim stay on the SDJM court’s order on June 21. However, the actress later filed a memo, stating that she would vacate the house.

The court also dismissed Varsha’s plea on social media postings by Anubhav, which she alleged were fabricated stories directed at tarnishing her image. Since a case in this regard is pending in the High Court, the same allegations cannot be taken up for hearing again, it said.

Notably, Varsha had filed a domestic violence case on August 7, 2020, accusing the actor-turned-politician of torturing her physically and mentally. She also prayed the court to direct Anubhav to pay compensation and damage to her, right to residence in a shared household or pay rent of Rs 20,000 per month for a house or residence at her rank or level. She has sought one-time compensation of around Rs 15 crore and monthly maintenance of around Rs 50,000.

She also filed for restitution of conjugal rights in the Family Court.

Anubhav is seeking a divorce from her and has time and again said that there is no room for reconciliation. Since mediation between the couple ended in a statement, the hearing on the divorce case has begun.
