New Delhi: Vastu expert Khushdeep Bansal had made headlines in 1997 after he claimed that the library in the old Parliament House had “architectural defects” and this was why governments fell.

Twenty-seven years later, he is in the news again – this time for the wrong reasons.

Khushdeep and his brother were arrested on Monday in Delhi by a joint team of Assam Police and Delhi Police’s Counter Intelligence Unit in connection with a Rs 65-crore fraud.

Both have been flown taken to Assam where they face charges in the Autonomous Council scam, which involves the son of a Congress leader from Madhya Pradesh.

Apart from Vaastu consultancy, Khushdeep is a consultant on various state government projects and a strategic advisor to several businessmen and industrialists.

A complaint was filed against Khushdeep by Delhi-based Sabarwal Trading Company owner Kamal Sabarwal.

Khushdeep told Delhi Police that all he had done was to introduce an individual to Sabarwal. Assam Police have claimed that all the accused collaborated in orchestrating the scam that has come to light.

In 1997, Khushdeep said that the library of Parliament building had defects, and claimed that he had the solution — placing copper wires underground between the Parliament and library building. That, he added, would help ‘restore balance’ and allow governments to complete their tenures.
