Vedanta Aluminum’s Jal Sewa Shibir Quenches Thirst Of Bhubaneshwar Citizens

Bhubaneswar: As Odisha struggles to cope with the scorching summer heat, Vedanta Aluminium’s initiative to provide relief has been highly appreciated.

Vedanta Aluminium, largest producer of aluminium in India, launched Jal Sewa Shibirs at 15 strategic locations of Bhubaneswar last month to help people quench their thirst.

These outlets have been providing cold drinking water, lemonade and buttermilk to around 10,000 citizens every day free of cost, in collaboration with Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. This initiative is being carried out by Auto Mahasang and NGO Disha, led by the all-women startup Biogram.

Citizens who have benefited from these camps have been full of praise for this community welfare initiative.

Bhola Mohanty, who had buttermilk from AIIMS Hospital area Jal Shibir, said that the quality of facilities being provided in Vedanta Aluminium’s camps was excellent.

Traveller Suyash Mohapatra commended Vedanta Aluminium for offering buttermilk and lemonade, besides water, to the people. He benefited from the camp operated in the Master Canteen area.

Chandan Kar, a student who visited the camp at KIIT Square area, said that many organizations had started voluntarily Jal Sewa Shibir to provide drinking water, but closed down very soon. Vedanta Aluminium’s camps, he pointed out, have been running for a month and offer multiple beverages for the thirsty public.

Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das appreciated Vedanta Aluminium’s camps, saying that this is a very important initiative. Arrangements have also been made for animals and birds.

Vedanta Aluminium CEO Rahul Sharma said: “It heartens me to see our Jal Sewa Shibir help lakhs of Bhubaneswar’s citizens in times of need. Vedanta Aluminium’s social endeavours are aimed at improving the quality of life of Odisha’s people and we remain committed to their wellbeing.”
