Bhubaneswar: After travelling across 13 states and one Union Territory, the Trophy Tour of FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela will reach Odisha capital on Sunday and will see 100 priests from Puri chant Vedic hymns at Lingaraj Temple once it is brought to the Old Town area from Biju Patnaik International Airport.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sources, the trophy will be received at the airport around 11.30 am and a show will be organised at the Biju Patnaik Square near the airport. Thereafter, it will be brought to the Lingaraj Temple. People in several wards of the city will welcome the trophy by showering flowers and drawing rangolis.
It will also be taken to the Esplanade mall, where shows have been organised to create an ambience of sports. SOA University and the stadium of KIIT University are its next destination and there too several programmes have been lined up.
‘“All logistics have been planned to make the series of events successful,” said BMC Commissioner Vijay Kulange.
The trophy will then tour all districts, beginning Nayagarh, sources added.
