Veena, Mardala & Vocal Renditions Mark End Of Odissi Sangeet Utsav In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The two-day “Odissi Sangeet Utsav’ concluded with renditions of Odissi by eminent singers in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

Aimed at promoting and spreading awareness about classical Odissi music, the Utsav was organised by Guru Kelu Charan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre under the aegis of Odia Language, Literature and Culture department in the Centre’s auditorium.

The concluding evening of the Utsav took off with lighting of traditional lamp by veteran singer Shyamamani Devi, Guru Gopal Chandra Panda and deputy director of the Culture department.

Prominent singer Raghunath Patra started the programme with three back-to-back Odissi songs. It was followed by maestro K Ramarao Patra’s performance on Veena. The show concluded with songs rendered by Guru Gopal Chandra Panda’s daughter Sangita Panda and ‘Mardala’ performance by Jagannath Kuanr.

Several prominent artists from different cultural fields attended the festival on the two days.
