Veggie Vendors Shut Shops To Protest Police Excess In Odisha’s Baripada

Baripada: The residents of Baripada town in Mayurbhanj district went had to go without fresh vegetables on Saturday as vendors have closed their shops in protest against alleged police excess to enforce the lockdown.

According to reports, police had picked up some vegetable vendors and locals from near the court in Baripada on Friday for violating the social distancing guidelines.

Protesting against the police action, the vendors had stopped selling vegetables in the evening.

Taking note of the people’s resentment, police held a meeting with the vendors on Saturday morning. But the talks remained inconclusive.

The vegetable vendors threatened that their shops will remain closed till their demands were met.
