Puri: Faced with criticism from different quarters, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday announced reduction in the parking fee for four-wheelers at its four Bhakta Nivas in Puri.
The earlier decision of the SJTA to charge Rs 500 per day for vehicle parking had drawn strong public criticism. Following backlash, it has now revised the parking fee and slashed it to Rs 240 per day.
However, only devotees staying at Bhakta Nivas will be allowed to park their vehicles within the premises of these guest houses, Chief Administrator of SJTA Arabinda Padhee said.
Padhee had earlier stated that rooms at Bhakta Nivas are being provided to pilgrims at affordable rates. Many devotees visiting from outside do not arrive in four-wheelers.
