Bhubaneswar: In a significant acquisition for the upcoming season, Odisha FC have brought on board Mourtada Fall on a two-year deal.
The Senegalese defender, who had outstanding stints with FC Goa and Mumbai City FC, will be reuniting with his former coach Sergio Lobera at Odisha FC.
Not only is Fall a top-class defender, he stands out as a goal-scorer too. With 17 goals to his name, he is the highest-scoring defender in the history of ISL.
His aerial prowess, timing and composure in front of the goal makes him a big threat during set-pieces.
Fall had a great spell with FC Goa under the guidance of Lobera, winning the Super Cup in 2018-19 and ISL League Winners’ Shield in 2019-20.
His winning streak continued after he moved to Mumbai City FC, helping his new club clinch the League Winners’ Shield and ISL title in the same season (2020-21).
Fall also has the experience of playing on the continental stage, having participated in the AFC Champions League.
The Juggernauts will hope the 35-year-old Fall replicates his success for the Bhubaneswar-based club.
