Hyderabad: Veteran Odia actor Rathindra Nath Bose aka Debu Bose died at a private hospital in Hyderabad late on Wednesday following chronic illness. He was 76.
He was the the former president of Odisha Cine Critic Association.
Born in 1942, he made a foray into Odia film industry as a dancer with ‘Mana Akasha’ released in 1974. He then landed a character role in ‘Tapasya’ released in 1976.
After playing an array of characters in more than 100 films, he earned recognition as the most beloved and articulated reel-life father. Some of his films are ‘Pua Mora Kala Thakuara’, ‘Ki Heba Sua Posile’, ‘Phula Chandana’ and ‘Suna Chadhei’.
‘Raasta’ released in 2014 was his last movie. He has also acted in several television serials and Bengali movies.
Following cardiac arrest, he was admitted to hospital four months back.
A pal of gloom descended on film fraternity as the news of his death spread.
