Veteran Actor Jagdeep Passes Away In Mumbai

Mumbai: Veteran actor Jagdeep passed away at his residence here on Wednesday. He was 81.

“The actor passed away at 8.30 pm at his residence in Bandra. He was not keeping well due to age related issues,” said producer Mehmood Ali, a close family friend, according to PTI.

The actor, whose real name was Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jafri, was best known for his role as Soorma Bhopali in the blockbuster film “Sholay”. He is the father of actor Javed Jafri and TV producer Naved Jafri.

Jagdeep has acted in more than 400 films in his entire career. He starred in films like K A Abbas’ ‘Munna’, Guru Dutt’s ‘Aar Paar’, Bimal Roy’s ‘Do Bigha Zamin’ and AVM’s ‘Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke’.
