Bhubaneswar: Veteran politician and former Odisha Minister Damodar Rout was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar following illness.
According to sources, the 81-year-old leader is undergoing treatment at Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in the state capital for kidney-related ailments. His family members admitted him to the hospital after he complained of uneasiness.
The condition of the seven-time MLA is stated to be stable. He is reported to be undergoing dialysis at the hospital.
Rout represented Balikuda-Erasama and Paradeep constituency under Jagatsinghpur district in the state Assembly. He was elected to the 7th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th Assembly in the state.
