Bhubaneswar: Former Minister Dambarudhar Ulaka passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night. He was 86.
According family sources, he was being treated for age-related ailments and breathed his last around 10.50 pm. His mortals remains will be carried to his birthplace Bankili for the last rites.
Ulaka was a 5-time Congress MLA from Bissam-Cuttack in Rayagada district. He represented the seat in 1974, 1977, 1995, 2004 and 2009. His son Nilamadhab Ulaka is contesting the upcoming elections from Bissam-Cuttack as an independent after being denied ticket by the Congress.
Expressing grief over his death, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Sarat Pattanayak described him as an experienced and senior leader, who was committed to Congress and performed his responsibilities as a legislator and organisational work with utmost sincerity.
