Bhubaneswar: Veteran Ollywood actor Uttam Mohanty, undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, is set to be airlifter to Delhi as his health condition has turned critical.
Arrangements are being made to airlift the veteran cine personality to Delhi for advanced treatment at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, his actor son Babushaan told reporters on Saturday.
As per information, Uttam Mohanty was rushed to a private hospital in the capital city after he encountered serious health issues three days ago. He was subsequently shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as his condition was critical. He was also put on ventilator support.
Doctors at the hospital said steps are being taken to airlift Mohanty as his health condition is now stable. It will be possible to shift him now, a doctor attending on him said.
Reports indicate that he was admitted due to an immediate need for medical attention. Mohanty has been battling health issues for some time now as he is reported to be suffering from liver cirrhosis.
Soon after news of his hospitalisation spread, fans, admirers and well-wishers expressed their support on social media platforms. The actor’s family has requested privacy during this challenging time.
A versatile actor, Mohanty appeared in over 150 films. A prominent figure in the Odia film industry, he has acted opposite his wife Aparajita Mohanty in many Ollywood films.His contributions have earned him several accolades and a lasting legacy in Indian cinema.
Born and brought up in Baripada, Mohanty had made a foray into acting during his college days. He has appeared in more than 135 Odia films and 30 Bengali movies. He has also acted in a Hindi film Naya Zaher.
