Mumbai: Despite a strong opening in the first week, the Rajinikanth starrer ‘Vettaiyan’ is struggling to mint money at the box-office in its second week.
Unlike other Rajinikanth blockbusters, which left cash registers ringing at the box-office in the upcoming weeks following the opening week, ‘Vettaiyan’ saw a decline in the sales of tickets.
In the opening week, the movie grossed around Rs 122.15 crore at the domestic box-office. However, in the second week, the Rajinikanth starrer managed to mint just Rs 2.65 crore. This took the total collection at the end of two weeks to Rs 124.80, as per a report in trade website Sacnilk.
Even notable actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, and Fahad Faasil, who play pivotal roles in the ‘Vettaiyan’, are unable to save the movie.
As the movie is allegedly incurring losses, rumours are abuzz that Rajinikanth may be compensating for the losses by signing another movie with Lyca Productions.
Earlier, Rajinikanth had teamed up with Lyca Productions for ‘2.0’ which was a disaster at the box-office.
The actor again collaborated with Lyca for ‘Darbar’, which also bombed at the box-office.
Then, the actor did a cameo in Lyca’s ‘Lal Salaam’ as a compensation for the previous failed movies. Unfortunately, ‘Lal Salaam’ also failed at the box-office.
Now, with ‘Vettaiyan’ heading towards failure, fans believe that the actor might do another movie with Lyca Productions as a compensation.
