Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ Beats ‘Animal’, ‘Pathaan’; Continues To Dominate Box Office In 5th Week

Mumbai: The Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer historical saga ‘Chhaava’ has broken the box-office records of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ and Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’.

Even after entering the fifth week of its run, the film continues to leave cash registers ringing at the box-office.

The film minted ₹8 crore on Day 31 and its fifth Sunday at the box office, taking its total collection to ₹562.65 crore, according to Sacnilk.

Meanwhile, Ranbir’s ‘Animal’ minted around ₹553.87 crore and Shah Rukh’s ‘Pathaan’ minted ₹543.09 crore during its theatrical run.

Directed by Laxman Utekar, ‘Chhaava’ revolves around the life of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Vicky plays the lead role in it, whereas Rashmika plays his onscreen wife.

The film also features Akshaye Khanna as the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

Praising the film, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his address at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Delhi said, “Ye Maharashtra aur Mumbai hi hai jisne Marathi filmo ke saath saath, Hindi cinema ko ye unchai di hai. Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai. (Maharashtra and Mumbai have elevated Hindi cinema along with Marathi films. And these days, Chhaava is making waves).”
