Nabarangpur: A video of two bears playing football on the outskirts of a village in the district has gone viral on social media.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when some youths of Sukhigan village in Umerkote block had gone to a field on the outskirts of the village to play football. While they were playing, two bears from a nearby forest suddenly appeared and started moving towards the field. Panicked by the bears coming towards them, the youths ran away leaving the football behind.
After some time, the youths, who were standing at a distance, saw the two bears playing with the football by kicking and tossing it up with their legs and mouths. Later, the bears took the football and went inside the forest.
The youths, who had recorded the bears playing the football in the video recorder of a mobile phone, uploaded it on social media.
Following the incident, as panic gripped the village and its nearby areas, Forest Ranger of Umerkote Purna Chandra Nayak went to the village and advised the villagers to remain alert. He also told them to keep a watch on the bears as they may come to the playing field again.
