Mumbai: Not just commoners, even celebrities are victims of fraudulent activities.
Vidya Balan was recently at he receiving end of a social media scam.
The Bollywood actress has filed an FIR with Mumbai Police against an unknown person for creating a fake Instagram account in her name and extorting money from people against promise of jobs.
The fraudster opened a ‘duplicate’ social media account of Vidya, created a Gmail account in her name and contacted people connected with Bollywood, offering them jobs.
Once Vidya came to know of this scam, she reported the incident to police. An FIR was registered under Section 66 (C) of IT by Khar Police Station.
Vidya has asked her fans and followers on Instagram to report and block the fraudulent account.
Vidya, whose last released film was ‘Neeyat’ in 2023, will next be seen in ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’, which also stars Ileana D’Cruz, Pratik Gandhi and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
