Balangir: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday unearthed properties worth over Rs 1.8 crore in possession of a couple working as state governments officials in the district.
On the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to the
known sources of income, the Vigilance officials carried out simultaneous raids on the properties of Rabindra Kumar Mohanty, Junior Clerk in Puintala block and his wife Meghamala Pattanaik, assistant teacher in Government Nodal UP School at Dahimal.
Five teams of Sambalpur Vigilance Division comprising 3 DSPs, 4 Inspectors and other staff conducted the raids at 5 places in the district.
During the raids, one triple-storey building at Balangir, 2 double-storey
buildings at Tusra and Dunguripali, 9 plots, 2 four-wheelers, one power tiller, 2 two-wheelers, bank deposits of over Rs 15 lakh, insurance deposits worth Rs 13 lakh,
Rs 8,06,700 in cash and other movable and immovable properties, totalling over Rs 1.81 crore in possession of the couple were unearthed.
