Sundargarh: Vigilance apprehended a Forest Guard and a Watcher while taking bribe in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Tuesday.
Following a complaint that Sanatan Patra, Forest Guard and Narendra Kalo, Watcher in Dharanidharpali Nursery under Bonai forest range in the district were demanding a bribe of Rs 7,000 from the complainant to facilitate release of her husband’s seized two-wheeler, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant informed the Forest officials that she was ready to give the bribe money. On the direction of the Forest Guard, Kalo went to get the money.
While Kalo was receiving Rs 7,000 from the complainant in presence of Patra, Vigilance officials caught them red-handed. The Vigilance sleuths recovered the entire bribe amount and seized it.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on the properties of Patra at two locations from DA angle.
Rourkela Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is on.
