Angul: Vigilance has apprehended a deputy executive engineer while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 in Odisha’s Angul district.
Following a complaint filed by a contractor alleging that Sarat Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Executive Engineer (DEE)
, Lift Irrigation (LI), Angul was demanding the bribe to hand over electrical estimate of two projects and release the withheld amount of civil cost, the Vigilance set up a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to Pradhan. While the DEE was accepting the money, Vigilance sleuths nabbed him red-handed. The entire bribe money was recovered from Pradhan and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on two properties of Pradhan from DA angle.
Cuttack Vigilance has filed a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress against Pradhan.
