Koraput: Vigilance apprehended a headmaster while taking a bribe of Rs 40,000 in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Thursday.
A contractor had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance that Drona Kumar Tandi, headmaster of Trishakti High School at Makaraguda under Kegaon police station in Golamunda block of the district was demanding Rs 40,000 as bribe through bank deposit for clearing his running bill towards construction of new building of the high school.
The headmaster had directed the complainant to deposit the bribe amount in his account number. After depositing the amount, the contractor handed over the counter foil of deposit slip of Rs 40,000 to the headmaster in his office chamber of the high school.
When the Vigilance officials reached the school, Tandi swallowed the deposit slip. At the same time, on verification of his cell phone, a message was found to have been received regarding credit of Rs 40,000 deposited by the complainant.
Following the successful trap, Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on at two locations of Tandi from DA angle.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is in progress against Tandi.
