Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has apprehended a multi-purpose health supervisor for taking a bribe of Rs 4,000 in Odisha’s Kalahandi district.
Following a complaint that Laxmi Narayan Maharana, the multi-purpose health supervisor (MPHS), Mahulpatna Sector and in-charge vital statistics, CHC, Thuamul Rampur in the district had taken the bribe for processing and issuing birth certificate of the complainant and his relatives, the Vigilance apprehended the former.
As Maharana had received Rs 4000 bribe through UPI transaction of Phonepe from the complainant, the Vigilance sleuths seized his Smart Phone and the applications of the complainant and others.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on three locations of ri Maharana from DA angle.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is in progress.
