Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has apprehended a junior clerk of a state government office for taking bribe in Odisha’s Balasore.
Following a complaint that Laxmi Narayan Nath, junior clerk in the office of the additional sub-collector, Settlement in Balasore was demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 for issuing a certified copy of Yadas Sabak record prior to settlement of his paternal land which stands recorded in the name of his father, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe. The Vigilance sleuths nabbed Nath while accepting Rs 4000 from the complainant. The entire bribe money was recovered from Nath and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance launched simultaneous searches on three locations of Nath’s peoprties in Balasore district from DA angle.
Balasore Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 and started further investigation.
