Balasore: Vigilance officials have apprehended a state government official while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Balasore.
Following a complaint by the manager of a petrol pump that Sagarika Sabat, Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology, Balasore was demanding the bribe for issuing inspection/re-verification report towards delivery of Fuel Dispense Unit in respect of the petrol pump, the Vigilance set up a trap.
While the complainant was giving the bribe to Sabat as per the plan, the Vigilance sleuths caught her accepting it. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at 3 locations of Sabat’s properties in Balasore and Ganjam districts from DA angle.
Balasore Vigilance has filed a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is in progress.
