Bhubaneswar: Vigilance apprehended a sub-inspector of police while accepting bribe in Odisha capital on Saturday.
The Vigilance had received a complaint that Priyabrata Pradhan, sub-inspector (SI) of Saheed Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar UPD was demanding bribe of Rs 5,000 to return the seized driving licence (DL) of the complainant in connection with a case registered two days back.
The complainant had paid Rs 3,000 to Pradhan on March 21. But the SI demanded Rs 2000 more to release the DL. The Vigilance officials apprehended Pradhan while accepting bribe money of Rs 2000.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on two locations of Pradhan from DA angle.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case in this connection and further investigation is in progress against Pradhan.
