Koraput: Vigilance sleuths on Sunday apprehended a sub-inspector (SI) of police while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in Odisha’s Koraput district.
Following a complaint that Prasant Kumar Mohanty, SI of police, Ambaguda, under Jeypore Sadar police station in the district was demanding the bribe to help the complainant in a case registered earlier, the Vigilance set a trap. The SI was the investigating officer in the case.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe and the Vigilance officials caught him accepting it red-handed. They recovered the entire bribe money from Mohanty and seized it.
Koraput Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection. Investigation is in progress against the SI.
