Sambalpur: Vigilance has apprehended a Revenue Inspector while taking bribe for second time in Odisha’s Sambalpur district.
Following a complaint that Manoj Kumar Mahananda, Revenue Inspector (RI), Daincha RI Circle under Naktideul tehsil of the district, was demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant to forward enquiry report to Tehsildar for issuing land patta in his favour, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe and the Vigilance officials caught Mahananda accepting it. The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Mahananda and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance started simultaneous searches on the properties Mahananda at two locations from DA angle.
Sambalpur Vigilance has filed a case under Section 7 of PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection. Further investigation is in progress.
Earlier, Mahananda was arrested in a bribe case while he was working as RI at Jamankira in the district. The Vigilance has already filed the chargesheet in this case and the case is under trial in Vigilance Court.
