Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials apprehended a revenue inspector (RI) while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Odisha Vigilance had received a complaint that Sushanta Kumar Swain, RI, Balarmpur Circle with additional charge of Rekhadeipur Circle under Dharmasala block of the district was demanding Rs 10,000 as bribe to submit verification report after collection of land rent in SIKKIM Land case like mutation case.
As per the Vigilance plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to Swain and the Vigilance sleuths caught him red-handed while accepting it on Saturday. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Swain and seized.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches at two locations of Swain from DA angle.
Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is in progress.
