Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has apprehended a Revenue Inspector and another person for allegedly taking bribe in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
Following a complaint that Barun Kumar Jena, RI, Sadar Circle, Dhenkanal was demanding Rs 30,000 for submission of favourable enquiry report in a mutation case for conversion of agricultural land to homestead land and issuing ROR (land patta) in favour of the complainant, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe demanded by the RI on Tuesday. The Vigilance sleuths nabbed Jena while receiving the money from the complainant and handing over to another person, Balaram Sahu, who identified himself as additional peon of the RI office. The entire bribe money was recovered from their possession and seized.
Following this, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on at two locations linked to Jena from DA angle. Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection.
