Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Monday apprehended a clerk and a peon of a state government office while taking bribe of Rs 20,000.
Following a complaint by a contractor that Sadasiva Sahoo, senior clerk-cum cashier in the office of SE RW (PH) Division, Bhubaneswar was demanding the bribe for facilitating release of his pending bills towards execution of sanitary works of a government building, the Vigilance set up a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give Rs 20,000 to Sahoo. After receiving the money, the senior clerk handed it over to Pradipta Kishore Dash, a peon of the same office.
Following this, both were nabbed by the Vigilance team. The entire bribe money was recovered and seized from the possession of Dash.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case in this connection under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation is in progress against both the accused persons.
