Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Thursday apprehended an assistant executive engineer while taking bribe in Odisha’s Jharsuguda.
Following a complaint filed by a contractor that Sanjukta Singha, assistant executive engineer, NH Division, Jharsuguda was demanding a bribe of Rs 27,000 as bribe for release of payment towards final bill related to works executed by him, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the contractor went to give the bribe to Sanjukta and the Vigilance sleuths caught her accepting the money red-handed. They also recovered the entire amount from her possession and seized it.
Following the trap, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous searches on properties of Sanjuktaat three locations from DA angle.
Rourkela Vigilance has filed a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is in progress against the engineer.
