Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday caught an accountant of Nayagarh Municipality while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 and arrested him.
Following a complainant by Jagabandhu Sia of Old Town, Nayagarh that accountant Ajaya Kumar Sathua was demanding Rs 20,000 as bribe in order to release security deposit in connection with a work executed earlier by him, the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division laid a trap.
The officers caught Sathua red-handed in his office room while accepting the bribe from the complainant. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of the accused and seized in presence of witnesses. His house at Itamati in Nayagarh district was being searched.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case and further investigation is on.
