Cuttack: A day after Rabindra Nath Pradhan, Assistant Executive Engineer of GPH Division-II, was found to be in possession of properties amounting to more than Rs 6.5 crore, the Vigilance on Wednesday arrested him on charges of having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on Pradhan’s properties at 6 places. His two-storey building at Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar, apartment at Balianta, house at native place in Berhampur, office of an associate in Balianta and office in Bhubaneswar were raided.
After search, inventory and further inquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Pradhan were calculated. When he failed to give satisfactorily account of his disproportionate assets, the Vigilance registered a case against him.
After his arrest, Pradhan was forwarded to the court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar which rejected his bail plea. Pradhan was sent to judicial custody till November 3.
