Athamallik: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested a technical
assistant of Athamalik block in Odisha’s Angul district on charges of accepting
bribe.
The arrested person was identified as Narayan Swain.
Officers of the anti-corruption department conducted raid at the
block office after receiving a complaint from one Basant Sahu that
Swain was demanding a bribe of Rs 21,000 for clearing a bill relating to a
project under MPLAD fund.
Basing on the complaint, vigilance sleuths laid a trap and
caught the accused red-handed while accepting the money.
Later, the vigilance team also raided Swain’s rented house located at Cuttack.
