Vigilance Arrests Chief Civil Supply Officer In Odisha’s Balasore

Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Friday arrested Chief Civil Supply Officer of Balasore district on charges of taking illegal gratification.

According to a release of Vigilance Directorate, Cuttack, the officials were keeping a close watch on the movement of Mir Raja Ali, Chief Civil Supply Officer-cum-District Manager, Paddy Procurement, Balasore after getting information regarding collection of illegal gratification by him.

The Vigilance sleuths on Thursday intercepted Ali in front of the main gate of his office while he was going to his rented house in official vehicle. Later, on search of his office, total Rs 2,34,900 was found in six paper packets from his table drawer which he could not account for satisfactorily.

The Vigilance registered a case against Ali in this connection and produced him before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore which remanded him to judicial custody till November 2.
