Baripada: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested a doctor of Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital, here on the charge of taking bribe to do an official work.
Following a complaint that Dr Debidutta Patra, FMT Tutor of PRM Medical College was demanding Rs 20,000 as bribe to issue the post-mortem report of the complainant’s deceased brother, the Vigilance officials laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the money and Dr Patra was caught by the Vigilance team accepting it near the medical college. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Dr Patra and seized in presence of witnesses.
Following the trap, a search has been launched on the house of Dr Patra at his at native village Simagadia under Khunta police station in Mayurbhanj district.
Balasore Vigilance has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and arrested Dr Patra.
