Bhubaneswar: An engineer, whose properties were searched by Odisha Vigilance on Thursday, has been arrested for allegedly possessing disproportionate assets worth over Rs 2.7 crore. This includes cash worth Rs 35,000 in demonetised currency.
Vigilance officials said that the total value of seizures was over 397 per cent of his known sources of income.
Vigilance carried out the searches on the properties of Rusinath Baral, an assistant executive engineer posted at Ranpur in Nayagarh district. The raids were carried out at four places in Khurda, Nayagarh and Dhenkanal districts.
A case has been registered against him and his wife.
The following is a list of movable and immovable properties unearthed in the raids:
A three-storey building at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar, a single-storey building at Sadangi village in Dhenkanal, nine plots including seven in Sadangi, a plot at Chandrasekharpur and another at Gothpatna in Bhubaneswar.
A four-wheeler, a two-wheeler, bank deposits of over Rs 44.73 lakh, insurance deposits of over Rs 13.42 lakh, gold and silver ornaments worth over Rs 9.04 lakh and Rs 1.3 lakh cash.
Vigilance officials calculated their total value as over Rs 2.51 crore. Besides, demonetised cash worth Rs 35,000 was recovered from him.
