Jajpur: Vigilance sleuths on Monday arrested a Junior Engineer (JE) in the district for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.
Chittaranjan Nayak of Nuasuguda village under Badachana police station had complained to the Vigilance officials that Junior Engineer, Swadhin Kumar Sahu, who is working with Badachana Electrical Section, Jajpur, was demanding Rs 10,000 as bribe to shift an 11 KV wire existing close to the complainant’s residential building.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and nabbed Sahoo red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from Nayak in his office room.
The sleuths seized the bribe amount and arrested the engineer. Sahu’s house at Chasapada in Dhenkanal district was also being searched till the report was filed.
