Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials have arrested a Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) in Puri district on the charges of illegal possession of assets worth more than his known sources of income.
The officials of Bhubaneswar Vigilance Division conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of GRS Gobinda Chandra Parida of Alasankha village under Gop block. The raids were conducted on his two three-storey buildings in Puri town, properties in native village, a clinic in Balikapileswar village and office in Chhaitana on Thursday.
In course of the search, Parida was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1.7 crore. Besides the immovable properties, a two-wheeler, deposits in different banks, investments in insurance policies, gold and silver ornaments and Rs four lakh in cash were seized.
The Vigilance department has registered a case against Parida and his wife under Prevention Of Corruption Act, 2018. Following his arrest, Parida has been forwarded to the court.
