Bhubaneswar: Vigilance officials on Wednesday arrested a Horticulture Overseer in Kandhamal district on the charge of taking bribe.
According to a release of Director, Vigilance, Cuttack, Pure Pradhan of Malebadi village under Daringbadi police station had complained that Batakrushna Kata, Horticulture Overseer, Daringbadi had demanded Rs 10,000 as bribe to process wage list for release of labour payment under MGNREG scheme.
Following the complaint, the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division laid a trap and nabbed Kata red-handed in his office room while accepting the bribe. The money was recovered from his possession and seized in presence of witnesses. Kata was arrested and forwarded to court.
Rented house of Kata at Kalinga in Kandhamal district and office room at Daringbadi were being searched.
Vigilance has registered a case and further investigation is underway.
