Baripada: Odisha Vigilance has arrested a junior assistant working at a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Mayurbhanj district on bribe charge.
Following a complaint from a Multi Purpose Health Supervisor that Himansu Sekhar Panda, Junior Assistant, Badampahad CHC was demanding Rs 25,000 bribe for helping hi draw his arrear salary, the Vigilance laid a trap on Wednesday.
As per the trap, the complainant went to pay the bribe money to Panda on the premises of the CHC. The Vigilance sleuths nabbed Panda while he was accepting the bribe and recovered he entire amount from his possession. Right hand wash of Panda gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.
Following the trap, the Vigilance launched simultaneous searches on the government quarters of Panda at Badampahad and his residential house at Bhagatpur under Khantapada poluce limits in Balasore district.
Panda was arrested and will be forwarded to the court. Balasore Vigilance has registered a case under PC Act, 1988 in this connection and further investigation is on.
