Kendrapada: Vigilance sleuths on Thursday arrested a police ASI for taking bribe for not arresting a person in connection with a case in the town.

Following a complaint that Pruthvi Raj Mishra, ASI of police in Kendrapada Sadar police station was demanding undue advantage of Rs 7,000 through one BrajaKishore Behera for not arresting the complainant along with other members of his family in connection with a case, the Vigilance laid a trap.

As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to the ASI and Behera. The Vigilance officials nabbed
Mishra and Behera red-handed while accepting the bribe inside Sadar police station. The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Mishra and Behera and seized.

Following the trap, the Vigilance launched simultaneous searches on the government quarters of Mishra at Kendrapada and house at his native village Mirzapur under Dharmasala police limits in Jajpur district. Both the ASI and Behera were arrested and forwarded to the Court.
