Angul: Vigilance arrested an Amin for taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 in the district on Friday.
Following a complaint that Soumya Ranjan Dash, Amin in the office of Revenue Inspector at Kaniha in the district was demanding undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 2,000
to furnish an enquiry report on a plot belonging to the complainant for sanction of a home loan by SBI, Samal Barrage Branch, Angul, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the demanded amount to the Amin and the Vigilance sleuths nabbed Dash while accepting it red-handed. The bribe money
was recovered from the possession of Dash and seized in presence of witnesses.
The Vigilance arrested Dash and conducted simultaneous searches in his office room and house at native Khalari in the district. He has been forwarded to the court.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
