Puri/ Baripada: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday arrested Puri district’s Pipili block MGNREGA assistant and revenue inspector (RI) of Bijatala in Mayurbhanj district on corruption charges.
Pipili block MGNREGA assistant Priyatam Swain was caught red-handed by a vigilance team while accepting a bribe to the tune of Rs 2,000 from a differently-abled person for clearing a bill under Indira Awaas Yojana.
Similarly, Bijatala RI Dillip Patra was nabbed while receiving a bribe of Rs 1,500 from one Sanjay Kumar Behera.
Patra had demanded the money to cancel demolition of Behera’s shop. Acting on the complaint, a trap was laid and the RI was caught red-handed, vigilance sources said.
