Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court has sentenced former secretary of Kalapathar PACS Ltd to rigorous imprisonment for 4 years in a corruption case in Odisha’s Subarnapur district.
Odisha Vigilance had filed the charge sheet against Jagdish Ratha, former secretary, Kalapathar PACS Ltd under Ulunda block of the district for misappropriation of government funds to the tune of Rs 5,28,054 by manipulating official records and showing less closing balance in the Day Book during 2014-16.
After hearing the case and examining the document, Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir sentenced Ratha to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 on him. The court sent him to jail custody to serve the sentence.
Odisha Vigilance will move the competent authority for dismissal of Ratha from service following his conviction.
