Jajpur: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended Anandapur (Keonjhar) Water Resources Superintending Engineer Bidhan Chandra Sahu in Jajpur district and seized Rs 10 lakh from his possession while he was taking the money to his residence in Cuttack.
According to official sources, the engineer posted to Baitarani Water Resources division of Keonjhar was carrying the money to his Cuttack residence in his car via Jajpur-Kuakhia route while the Vigilance officials of Jajpur and Cuttack intercepted the vehicle at NC College in Jajpur.
The team was led by Cuttack Vigilance Superintendent of Police Akhshaya Mishra. Sahu was being taken to his Cuttack residence for further investigation, said the Vigilance sources.
Details of the accused engineer’s other assets and properties are being assessed, added the sources.
