Bhubaneswar/Puri: In the highest recovery of illegal cash in recent times, the Vigilance sleuths have recovered approximately Rs 1.12 crore during a search in the house of a gynaecology specialist in the capital city.
Acting on a complaint, the Vigilance officials had nabbed Gynaec Specialist Dr Sukanta Kumar Jena while accepting Rs 8000 as bribe from the complainant for conducting a caesarian operation at Charichak CHC in Puri district.
Following this, the Vigilance officials conducted raid on Dr Jena’s house at Plot No. 38, Cosmo Duplex, Kalarahanga under Infocity police station in Bhubaneswar. During the search, they found Rs 1 crore and 12 lakh in cash kept in different packets in the house.
The Vigilance claimed that it was the highest recovery of illegal cash in recent times in the city.
