Sambalpur: Vigilance sleuths on Saturday apprehended an additional tehasildar for taking more than Rs one lakh as bribe in the district.
Following a complaint that Sarada Maharana, additional tehasildar, Kuchinda was demanding illegal gratification (bribe) of Rs 1,20,000 to reduce the penalty for his seized vehicle and release it, the Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the complainant went to give the bribe to Maharana. As the additional tehasildar was accepting the bribe, the Vigilance officials caught her red-handed. They recovered the total bribe money of Rs 1,20,000 from her possession.
Following this, the Vigilance conducted a search at her locations in Kuchinda and recovered Rs 3,03,610.
Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation is on.
