Bargarh: Vigilance sleuths nabbed a Block Education Officer (BEO) while taking bribe from a headmaster in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Thursday.
The headmaster had lodged a complaint with the Vigilance that the BEO of Jharabandh, Ranjit Bhoi was demanding Rs 5,000 as illegal gratification for release of pending salary of teachers of his school. Following the complaint, the Vigilance laid a trap to nab the BEO.
As per the plan, the headmaster went to pay the bribe money to the BEO. While Bhoi was accepting the money, the Vigilance officials caught him red-handed, recovered the total amount and seized it.
Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 In this connection. Further investigation is in progress against Bhoi.
