Cuttack: Vigilance has apprehended a CT & GST officer on bribe charge in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.
Following a complaint that Chittaranjan Mohanty, CT & GST Officer, Enforcement Unit at Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district was demanding Rs 80,000 from the complainant in order to release his seized documents and furnish closure report of CT & GST case instituted against him, the Vigilance set up a trap.
As per the plan, while the complainant was giving the bribe money to Mohanty, the Vigilance officials caught him red-handed and recovered the entire amount from his possession.
Following the trap, the Vigilance launched simultaneous house searches at three locations of Mohanty from DA angle.
Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case under PC Amendment Act, 2018 in this connection and further investigation is in progress.
